Our take

Tinder is the mainstream swipe app most people already know. It is free to use, with paid tiers (Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum) adding things like unlimited likes, seeing who likes you and prioritised likes. For UK users, the terms are with MTCH Technology Services Limited in Dublin.

Tinder does not publish a fixed UK price list. Prices are shown in the app, and its help centre notes that some features vary because of testing, so check the details on your own account.

Tinder offers Photo Verification: you record a short video selfie that is compared with your profile photos, and a blue tick is added if it matches. Tinder itself says the tick is a signal, not a guarantee.

Who runs it: MTCH Technology Services Limited, according to Tinder's own terms.

Good for

  • People who want the widest mainstream pool and are open to casual or serious dating
  • Anyone who wants to try an app free before deciding whether to pay

Avoid if…

  • You want a site built only for casual or open relationships
  • You want to know the exact price before downloading

Pros

  • Free to use, with paid tiers optional
  • Clear official help on cancelling for each payment method
  • UK subscribers can get a full refund within 14 days of the subscription starting, per the terms
  • Photo Verification with a video selfie

Cons

  • No fixed public UK price list
  • Features in each tier can vary because of testing
  • Mixed intentions on a mainstream app: not everyone is looking for the same thing

What Tinder costs

Check the current price on their site. Tinder doesn't show a full price list on a public page we could read, or prices depend on your age, location or the offer of the day. We don't copy prices from other websites.

Leaving Tinder

How you cancel Tinder depends on how you paid, and your order number tells you: MK means Apple, GPA means Google Play, TNDR means tinder.com or a card in the Android app. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and uninstalling the app does not cancel.

Tinder: questions people ask

Does deleting the Tinder app cancel my subscription?

No. Tinder's help centre says uninstalling or deleting the app won't cancel your subscription, and deleting your account won't cancel it either. Cancel through the method you paid with.

Can I get a refund from Tinder in the UK?

Tinder's terms say subscribers in the UK, EU, EEA and Switzerland are entitled to a full refund during the 14 days after the subscription begins. For Apple or Google purchases, request it from the store; for TNDR orders, contact Tinder from the email you paid with.

What does the blue tick on Tinder mean?

It shows the person passed Photo Verification, a video selfie compared with their profile photos. Tinder says it is a signal, not a guarantee, so still use your own judgement.
